A Dress to Impress: Christmas Edition

I guess a lot of the time we dress to impress others. Because we want that job, lover or friend. As a lover of all things style and beauty I personally think there is nothing wrong with that. Clothes, shoes and accessories are a way to express yourself. Β A way to feel good about yourself. Clothes can make you feel comfortable, beautiful, sexy, happy or if it’s the wrong outfit: crappy. But what about the other way around? I just know there are women reading this who have dresses and shoes in their closet they don’t wear because they ‘don’t have a reason or occasion’. In other words, they are not wearing the dress to impress, they are waiting for the right day, as if they have to impress the dress.

Obviously I am guilty. Of course I have a couple of pieces in my closet I don’t wear that often because I feel too overdressed or I don’t feel confident enough or I don’t want it to get stained during my #momlife. But they give me so much pleasure, these outfits. And they make me feel great whenever I wear them. And what’s a better reason and occasion to wear a dress than Christmas? Β I haven’t decided on my Christmas outfits yet. But I’m pretty sure one or two of these dresses will make the cut.

Pretty Christmas

This has to be my favorite dress. It’s from Reiss and I bought it last year for my best friends wedding. The fabric is gorgeous, the color is perfect, the fit is very flattering and the gold details just finish the job. This particular dress is not for sale anymore on the Reiss website, but I found three dresses that are similar in either style or colour, and they are for sale! So if you are looking for a beautiful nude colored dress for Christmas, check out the Tarquin, the Odessa and the Carina. In my experience Reiss is true to size.

Busy Christmas

This bodycon dress from DKNY is my favorite work dress. It’s sophisticated and quite serious, but also very comfortable and soft. This one is from a couple of season ago (it still looks brand new though!), so I found a couple of alternatives on the DKNY website. I do always end up getting one or two sizes smaller when I buy clothes from DKNY: I find it’s not true to size. ButΒ if you are looking for a pencil skirt dress for the holidays, check out these gorgeous DKNY dresses on sale: the Satin MixedΒ and the Jersey V-Neck.

Cozy Christmas

REPEAT Cashmere has to be one of my favorite brands of all time. Everything is so soft, comfortable, beautiful and of such great quality. This merino woolen dress is so easy to throw on over leggings or sheer tights. It’s incredibly soft and warm. And it’s also on sale right now! So if you are planning on celebrating a low key Christmas or you are looking for something comfortable to wear on Christmas morning, I would highly recommend checking out the REPEAT website.

Dressy Christmas

Before I say anything else about this dress, you need to know: this dress has pockets! Yes. Pockets. And a zipper in the front that goes all the way down. I bought it last year and wore it for Christmas because I needed something that I could breastfeed in. The fabric is beautiful and quite thick. It has an A-line skirt and I love to wear it with over knee boots. Because it’s DKNY I would recommend going down at least one size. I picked out three gorgeous A-line skirt dresses for you to check out on the DKNY website. They are all on sale: the Velvet V-Neck, the Layered Jersey Dress and the Dress with the Pleated Skirt.Β Thanks for reading
