YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer and Foundation

Four months ago I bought the YSL Touche Eclat Foundation. On a whim really. It was on sale and whenever there is anything on sale from YSL I buy. Automatically. Because, you know, it’s gold packaging. Two months later there was another sale. The Touche Eclat Blur Primer went into my basket. Because, you know, it has gold flakes in it. Maybe I’m doing this review to convince myself I don’t just buy YSL products because of the packaging and the brand, but because of the quality. But I’m also doing this review to help you make a more sane and sound decision when it comes to buying or ignoring these products.

YSL Touche Eclat

The YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer

As I mentioned in the intro, this primer has gold flakes in it. The packaging is gorgeous: a glass bottle, with a golden cap and it has a great pump. YSL promises the following about this primer:

“Our 1st light infused primer that evens the look of skintone, blurs pores and fine lines, and helps your make-up last longer.”

You really only need one, maybe two pumps. The product has that silicone feel to it when you have just applied it to your face. It doesn’t feel oily or greasy, just primer-y. It sinks into your skin very fast and once that’s happened your skin feels very soft. I like to wear it without make-up or for a no make-up look, because it does make my skin look better. Especially in pictures.

The YSL Touche Eclat Foundation

I have the shade BD25, which is a little dark for me, in winter time, but great when I have a fake tan. I do feel like this foundation oxidizes a bit, especially when using two layers (two more pumps = full coverage).

I don’t use two layers (or even two pumps!) on a daily, but I wanted to show you guys that this is a buildable foundation. I didn’t “need” any concealer after adding a second layer of foundation! I used a beauty sponge, but all of my foundation brushes give me a similar result. The Touche Eclat L e Teint Foundation is not my favorite foundation, but it is definitely a trustworthy one. I don’t have to worry about my foundation creasing or not staying in place all day. When I wear this to work I check it maybe once, during lunch. When I come home my face looks exactly the same as when I left that morning. For me, this makes it my preferable choice when going out at night.

The Radiance Enhancing Pressed Powder

YSL Radiance Enhanced Pressed Powder

So this is not a Touche Eclat product, but it is the powder I often use with this foundation. It adds a lot more coverage than my Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder, which isn’t necessarily something I prefer. For this reason I use this Radiance Enhancing Pressed Powder with a fan brush. But if you are looking for that full coverage look, this foundation and powder combo it definitely for you. As you can see it made my base completely matte. So if you have oily skin I highly recommend this powder. I use my Mac Prep & Prime Fix + after I apply the Radiance Enhancing Pressed Powder, to make everything look a little more natural and dewy.

The verdict

So I am definitely a sucker for YSL. The gold packaging, the brand itself: everything is so stunning and chique and timeless. The YSL lipsticks taste disgusting, but I love them anyway. So keep this soft spot in mind when you make your own decision. I love the products I reviewed for a night out or for pictures. I also prefer it in the summer time: the foundation is gorgeous with a gold toned highlighter. But on a day to day, I reach for my Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation or my L’Oreal Cushion Foundation, for a more natural look.

Want to see me use these products in a video?

I have used the foundation and powder combo in my Working Mom Make-up Routine. I have used the blur primer and the powder in my No Make-up Make-up Routine. And I’ve used all three products in my Contour Make-up Routine.

Thank you for reading!
