Winter will always be a difficult season for me. The cold, the rain, the darkness: the Island girl in me will never get used to it. But, over the years, I have learned to dress more properly for Dutch winters. Layering wool, finding the comfiest sweaters, the warmest boots and the perfect winter coat – it helps, a lot. My best find this season is a calf length, 100% cashmere cardigan from Repeat Cashmere. I am living in this cardigan this winter and many winters to come. In this Winter Lookbook I will show you this and some other snuggly but smart favorites for the colder months.
The Repeat Cashmere Cardigan
This cardigan, o, guys, I am in love. It is the perfect find for winter. It is the cardigan of cardigans. Not only is it super warm and soft (it’s 100% cashmere), it is also very easy to wear and style with basically any outfit. I can put on leggings, boots and this cardigan and no one will know I slept in those leggings (because, hello, #momlife). This cardigan makes every outfit look good. Another great plus is that it’s perfect for baby wearing. I can cover Alela in the softest cashmere, to keep her warm and snuggly. O, and did I mention it has pockets?
The cardigan is very thick, has a ribbed structure and as I mentioned, it’s 100% cashmere. It has trumpet sleeves that cover your cold hands and a shawl collar to snuggle up in. There are slits on either sides of the bottom and the cardigan reaches my calves.
I have been buying and wearing Repeat Cashmere for almost 5 years now and I can honestly tell you the quality is perfection. My cashmere jumpers, dresses, scarves and cardigans from this brand all still look amazing, even though I live in cashmere for 6-8 months out of the year. I take good care of them and I am slowly building up my Repeat Cashmere collection, because five years in, I know these timeless pieces will last me a lifetime. Quality over quantity and style over fashion is how I try to keep a little bit of a sustainable wardrobe.
For size reference: I always get a size 38, for cashmere pieces from Repeat Cashmere, even though I am a 36. Silk and other pieces from this brand are true to size though. You can get my Repeat Cashmere cardigan here. The hat I’m wearing is also from Repeat Cashmere and 100% cashmere. They sell out so quickly, but there are still a few colors left.
My Other Winter Faves
I have a few other winter favorites to share with you as well in this lookbook! They are a little bit harder to shop, because I am a collector, but I will do my best to find dupes or alternatives.
First up are my baby pink Balmain jeans. Balmain jeans cast about a months rent, so I have always bought them on sale. For instance at www.zalando-lounge.nl (also great for other designer deals) or Farfetch. They are worth it though: Balmain jeans are comfortable, sturdy and gorgeous.
These See by Chloe boots are probably (no, most certainly) my favorite pair of boots. I have been wearing them year round for over three years: they are so comfortable. My shoe- guy fixes the heels every now and then and I work the leather whenever I think about it, to keep them made for walking. See by Chloe is Chloe’s less expensive little sister and Zalando has a lovely collection.
In this blogpost you can find all the details about the sling I am carrying Alela in.
The last item I want to mention is my Ted Baker coat. This is the sixth winter it’s keeping me warm and it still looks brand new. If you ever want to invest in a winter coat that will last you a lifetime, Ted Baker is the way to go. The inside (lovely!!) is still completely intact and there is zero discoloration or distress on the wool. I got mine at the Bijenkorf.
