Columns by Kari has a new logo! Eleven months ago my website went selfhosted and at that same time I published my first logo. I have been loving that logo the past year and I still love it. But I did feel it was time for a change. Something that would fit “my brand” even better. There have also been a few other changes on the blog, over the past few weeks and months. And I will continue to make more, mainly because I am preparing for the arrival of baby girl number two this summer! In this post I will explain what all of the changes are and why I have set them in motion. But first, the new logo!
The New Logo
As I said in the intro I still love my old logo. It represents me and my blog well, because of the little leaf, which stands for my efforts to live a green, cruelty free and plant based life, whilst still enjoying all the merits of makeup, fashion and delicious food. But the old logo was missing something…
I started designing new logo’s back in February. I designed one, sometimes two, every week, giving myself time to get a feel for them, love them, then discard them, send them to a friend for feedback, etc. I considered letting you guys pick the final new logo, because my Dutchies did such an amazing job helping us choose a birth announcement card. But after a while this one logo just stuck with me. I didn’t get bored with it after a while: I have been loving this logo for a good two months now, so I have decided it is time to share the new logo with you!
Branding/ Website Design Changes
I also made a couple of website design changes, so the look and feel of the site would fit my brand better. (When I say “I” in this context I mean a friend customized my CSS, because even after 1,5 of blogging CSS creates a flat line in my brain). All of the little details in my blog-theme are now in my own shade of pink. The same pink as my logo and the same pink I use when I make blog- or Instagram templates.
Another change has been the “Dutch” and “English” labels I now put on every blogpost. The fact that my website is bilingual is a big part of Columns by Kari. And I wanted to find a way that made it easier for everyone to find the language that suited them best. I haven’t yet decided if these are the labels I am keeping, but for now they will do.
Posting Schedule
Last year I posted 3 to 4 times a week. When my blog grew I allowed the amount of weekly posts to grow along. So, since the beginning of 2018 I have been posting 5 to 6 times a week. One of these posts has always been a guestblog, either by one of my beautiful World Mamas, or an amazing Dutch guest blogger. I am so proud of these beautiful guest stories!
Maternity Leave
We hope to welcome a baby girl in July. We are so excited! I can’t wait to hold my little baby in my arms and I am so excited for Aya to meet her baby sister. It will be a big change for her. But also one that is filled with so much love and opportunity! I am sure she will be an amazing big sis!
When I found out I was pregnant I slowly started to build up the amount of posts I wrote in a week, so I can have enough content by the time the baby is born and take a few months off and focus on my daughters, breastfeeding and healing my body after birth.
You can continue to read new content 4 times a week, including updates on the baby and #momoftwolife, during the summer! Unfortunately no guest blogs though, because I won’t have time to maintain contact with guest bloggers and edit posts during my maternity leave. But I hope to continue working with more bloggers in the fall. I even want to start working with regular contributors…
Collaborations
I’ve had the opportunity to do a lot of fun collaborations over the past few months. I feel so grateful! It is one of the things I love about blogging: getting to know brands and products and sharing things I am excited about with you guys. But I am going to do less collabs in the coming months, as my girls will be my main focus during this time!
Thank you so much for going on this journey with us and for your continuing support and friendship! You are even more amazing than you know!
