Empties part 18: What (not) to buy next

It’s time to go through my beauty trash again! I have fifteen items to show you today. They are all cruelty free and many of them are also natural. There are products for your face, hands, hair, body, shaving and brows. Some I highly recommend, others I will probably not repurchase. And Isaya helped me take the photo’s! She is such a little beauty-cutie.

Specialized Natural Face Cleansers

These two products are pure beauty. MUKTI is just an overall gorgeous all natural and vegan brand. Their products are bliss in a bottle. This 2 in 1 resurfacing exfoliant has been one of my all time favorite skincare products over the past year. It is a soft exfoliant that contains natural AHA to help your skin get rid of dead skin cells and support the renewal proces. You softly massage it into your skin, leave it on for a few minutes, wash it off and are left with the softest skin. If you use this, don’t forget your neck/chest area!

I talked about the Acne soap in my “Tips for Clear Skin/How to Battle Breakouts” blogpost. It is the most peculiar looking skincare product I’ve ever used but it’s magic. Well, it’s not, it’s nature, but that’s basically the same. If I have a breakout or feel a pimple coming up I wash my face with this soap for two days and bam, I’m all good. This Khan el Saboun soap is no joke.

Shaving for sensitive skin

cruelty free shaving foam

This shaving foam is free from all kinds of harsh and irritating chemicals which makes it perfect for people with sensitive skin. It’s vegan and contains only six ingredients. ShaveSafe needs to do something about their website though because it’s in Danish and there is no English version of the site, which makes it very hard to learn more about the brand and the products.

Cruelty Free Hair Products

I recently did an extensive review of the Tabitha James Kraan hair products. It’s amazing. It’s a brand I can highly recommend, especially if you have thin and/or damaged hair. The conditioner will be in my next empties, because I am one of those people that uses more shampoo than conditioner.

The Batist dry shampoo is a good cruelty free option from the drugstore, but not one I will repurchase. Purely because it’s not natural and I am trying to slowly transition from “cruelty free” into “cruelty free and natural”.

Natural Hand Cream

If you follow my Dutch blogpost you know I am a big MÁDARA fan. It’s just one of those brands that you can trust not to disappoint. I have used and still use many MÁDARA products and am a big fan. This hand cream is beautiful. I featured it in my Winter hand & nail routine: it smells amazing and it makes your hands very soft. Love it!

Cruelty Free Brow Products

cruelty free brow products

Two brow products I have no complaints about but also won’t repurchase. The RevitaBrow is a serum for bigger & beter brows. To be honest, it may work, but I didn’t use it consistently. I already have so many steps in my skincare routine and with brows I’m just like mwah, I can fill them in. It’s not “essential” for me, like wrinkles or sun damage. But then again there are a lot of people that suffer from extreme hair loss, so I don’t want to deem this product irrelevant or useless. I just can’t give you a good review of it.

The Sleek brow gel was good: it worked and it was convenient, because it is small so easy for travel. And it’s cruelty free. I just found a natural alternative I like a lot better.

I also threw out my Real Techniques make-up sponge, because I’ve had it for way too long. I didn’t actually throw it out: Isaya is using it for arts & crafts because it’s perfect to paint with. I liked this sponge, but I have found a “greener” alternative from Benecos.

Derma Eco

Derma skincare

I tested quite a few Derma Eco products over the past few months and I think it is a great brand. They are certified organic (at least 10%, have the ECOCERT certification (at least 95% natural ingredients) and AllergyCertified, so a good choice for people with sensitive skin. My wife used the Derma Eco shampoo and conditioner and noticed a) her hair felt cleaner [she didn’t have to wash it as often] and b) any irritation and pimples she had on her scalp disappeared.

I used the toner and at first I thought it was the best toner ever, because it left a little layer, but after a while that layer actually started to bother me. It began to feel sticky and I didn’t look forward to using it.

Weleda Wellness

Weleda products

You all know I love Weleda. Not a day goes by I don’t use at least seven Weleda products. Weleda is 100% natural and cruelty free. The scents are amazing, the products work really well and they are not expensive. I can recommend the shower cream (smells sooo good), the Gentle Cleansing Foam (perfection) and the Relax Room Spray (do not ever want to go without it again). We all need a bit of Weleda Wellness in our life.
