Vegan Protein Balls | Healthy Energy Snacks with Cacao

I’ve been making a lot of raw vegan snacks lately, filled with plant based proteins and lots of delicious ingredients. Today I am sharing my go to recipe for vegan protein balls. This healthy energy snack is cacao flavored and tastes dangerously good. So if you are looking for that perfect on-the-go or pre/post workout snack (or in my case: breastfeeding snack) keep on reading!

Vegan Protein Balls | Ingredient list

vegan protein balls
  • Almond flour | 1 cup
  • Vegan protein [this is the one we use] | 1/2 cup
  • Raw cacao | 1/2 cup
  • Mixed nuts paste | 4 table spoons
  • Figs | a bunch
  • Chia seeds | 3 table spoons
  • Cane sugar | ask your teeth
  • Vanilla sugar | 2 table spoons
  • Cinnamon | 1 table spoon
  • Almond milk | 2 table spoons

As usual, measurements are approximate because I don’t really measure anything when I am cooking. I am a “a little bit of this and a pinch of that” kind of baker and cookie maker. You should try it, it’s fun.

How to make these delicious snacks

  1. Put all of your ingredients in a bowl, expect for the almond milk and the figs
  2. Cut the figs in small pieces and add them to the mix
  3. Knead the dough and ad almond milk as you go. It’s very easy to add too much milk, so make sure you ad a teaspoon at a time and keep the dough in a firm consistency
  4. One you have one big ball of vegan protein and deliciousness, start rolling small balls
  5. Put them in the fridge and wait for at least four hours before devouring them, one by one

These vegan protein balls are the perfect snack for on the go. Store them in a little container in your fridge and grab one whenever you need a little pick me up. They are also super easy to bring a long. And Isaya loves them too, so a lovely snack for your kids as well!

Enjoy!
