Cruelty Free Shower Routine 2019

It has been a minute since my last cruelty free shower routine. October 2017 to be exact. A lot has changed since then. First of all, we are no longer a three-girl household, but have been a four-girl household for almost a year now! Second, cruelty free is no longer the only standard I hold my skincare products to. I try to choose as natural as possible as well. In this cruelty free shower routine you will find brands and products that contain 90-100% natural ingredients and therefore don’t harm your skin, the environment or animals.

Obviously we are a bit extra, when it comes to the amount of products in our shower, due to the nature of my work. I test a lot of natural brands, so I can share the best with you. Having three more girls in my house that enjoy helping me review these products is a big help.

Isaya is currently obsessed with the Weleda Baby Calendula Shampoo and Shower Cream. A two-in-one is ideal for her, because it makes it so much easier for her to do everything herself in the shower. Now that she is four she takes great pride in having her own bottle and washing her own hair. For Alela I use the MÁDARA Baby & Kids Oat & Linden Shampoo. I’ve reviewed their baby line here and continue to love it a lot! My wife and I use the Dille & Kamille Oat & Almond Shampoo and the Weleda Millet Shampoo. Obviously I am a big Weleda fan, but Dille & Kamille have positively surprised me with their skincare. And I LOVE that the shampoo has a pump.

Soap & Scrub

Yeah.. this is what I mean by “extra” – two body scrubs and three body washes. Is that just us or do you like to switch up your soaps as well? For scrubs I love the Eco by Sonya Pink Himalayan Salt Scrub – which is a dry scrub you put on before you hop in the shower and then rinse off – and the Special Edition Ginger Body Scrub from The Body Shop. I love that scent! The only thing that bothers me about The Body Shop is that I have been trying to get info from them about the percentage of natural ingredients in their products, but so far I keep hitting a wall. I like transparency and even though I know they put a lo of effort in making their ecological footprint as small as possible, I wish they would let their consumers in on this aspect as well.

We are currently also enjoying the shower gels from Nature Box and another Dille & Kamille product: the Vig & Rose Showergel. Such a lovely scent. There is always a Weleda shower gel in our shower. Right now it is the almond one, but honestly, I love them all. Last but not least another MÁDARA baby & kids product. Their gentle wash is wonderful and again, gushing over the pump.

Cruelty Free Face Wash

I am using two face cleansers right now. The Himalayan Charcoal cleanser from The Body Shop and a foam by RAU Cosmetics. You can find my latest RAU Cosmetics review here. I especially like the Beyond line from this brand, as it is 100% natural. The foam is super soft and gentle. I have a discount code for my Dutchies, it’s: Kari2018 [yes, it’s from last year, but it still works, don’t worry!].

Cruelty Free Shower Routine: Shaving

This has been one of my favorite changes of the past few months. Shaving with a safety razor. O my, what an improvement. If you are still using plastic, disposable razors you are missing out. This is SO much better. Not just for the environment, but also for your skin and your wallet. I am obsessed. I use either natural shaving soap by SoftShave or I use my 100% natural African Black Soap by Natural Heroes, which is such a great sustainable option.
