The 5 Best Read Posts of 2018 | Columns by Kari

We are nearing the end of yet another year. In a couple of days we can celebrate the ending of 2018 and welcome 2019! The perfect time to take a moment and look at all that was good in 2018. For me, of course, that is the birth of Alela and seeing Isaya grow into an even more lovely, smart, beautiful little girl. This blogpost isn’t about my personal highlights though. Today I am sharing the 5 most popular blogposts of 2018, on columnsbykari.com. For the 5 best read Dutch blogposts of 2018 click here!

1. The 5 Most Beautiful Dutch Songs

Beautiful Dutch Songs

I think it’s so cool that this is the best read post in English. It means many of my international and expat readers are interested in Dutch music/Dutch life. As I mentioned in the blogpost I didn’t listen to a lot of Dutch music, growing up in the Caribbean. Dutch music is something I had to learn to love. But over the past five years or so I have grown to appreciate a couple of Dutch musicians. If you want to know who they are and which songs are my favorite, then click here!

2. 8 Cool Detective TV Shows with Savant Civilian Consultants

civilian consultants

When I got the idea for this blogpost I knew it would be a popular one: who doesn’t love detective tv shows with civilian consultants. I decided to bundle up my faves, because I noticed that the consultants all had things in common: they are all “savants” (in some way or another), they are a pain in the butt to the detective they are helping, they are quite charming, prone to break the law, they have a “dark side” or troubled past, but are super effective. It’s a successful formula. Check out my 8 recommendations here!

3. She is here! Alela’s Birth Story and First Photo’s

best read

All I can say about this is THANK YOU! Thank you for being interested in the person behind the blog, for caring about my girls, about my family. The love and congratulations we received when Alela was born was unbelievable. I am so grateful for all you beautiful humans, taking an interest, being KIND, taking the time to read, to comment, to share. You can find Alela’s birth story and birth photo’s here.

4. The Dior Makeup Routine

Dior Makeup

My review on the Dior Forever Foundation currently has 10.000 views, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised my Dior Makeup Routine is this the Top 5. At first, because Dior isn’t a cruelty free makeup brand I was a little “disappointed” it was so well read (if you know what I mean), but then I realized it is actually great, because now over 10.000 people know it’s not cruelty free and hopefully that will make a little bit of a difference. You can find my Dior Makeup Routine here.

5. The Cruelty Free Liquid Camouflage Concealer from Catrice

This makes my heart happy. Because so many people are interested in finding makeup and skincare that have not been tested on animals. Catrice is a lovely brand, with a lot of pretty and affordable cruelty free makeup. It is a nice drugstore choice and I loved using this concealer. It is a great dupe for crazy expensive and hyped up concealers, like the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer and the Tart Tape Shape concealer. You can find my review here.

Thank you!

A big thank you for reading along this past year. I am so grateful for each and every one of you. You make it possible for me to do what I love: write about things that inspire me and hopefully inspire you to feel happy, healthy and beautiful! I am not wishing you a happy 2019 just yet, because I have one more post going up on Sunday. If you want to know what the best read posts of last year were, then click here.
