Fall Lookbook 2018: Rainy Days

It has been a minute since I’ve done a lookbook – an entire year to be exact! I was literally just wearing Calvin Klein leggings trough my entire pregnancy, so I wasn’t going to waste your time on that. But now baby Alela is here and even though I am still wearing my CK’s pretty much every day, I also have some cute bits & pieces to show you for fall. For starters, the prettiest raincoat I have ever seen. I have never in my life owned an actual rain coat. But I saw this one and thought, alright rainy days I am ready for you. It’s also time to show you my mommy bag (I’ll share what’s inside at a later time). And while we are at it I will show you some of Isaya’s rainy days items as well!

The Raincoat of all Raincoats

I’ve been living in the Netherlands for… o my gosh, we moved here in the summer of 2001, so that means I’ve been here for seventeen years! How is that possible? I’m pretty sure it was fourteen years, just yesterday. But I guess that’s because I had a kid three years ago – they have a tendency to make time go by way too fast.

But yeah, in the past seventeen years I have never owned a real raincoat. Don’t get me wrong, Dutchieland has a lot (a lot!) of rainy days and a raincoat is probably a very sensible and Dutch thing to own, but this Island girl just wasn’t ready to acknowledge the fact that she needed to invest in one.

Until now. Because I have found a raincoat that is just perfect. It’s pink, it’s pretty, it’s comfy, I can wear it while I’m baby wearing, it’s not too hot, not too cold. It is just perfect. It’s from the brand RAINS and they sell them in every single color. I saw a woman wearing this pink one at my midwifes office and basically jumped at her and insisted she tell me WHERE DID YOU FIND THAT!? #noshame

The Mom Bag

When I had Isaya I carried around a huge diaper bag, that contained half our lives. Three plus years have passed since I first became a mom and my mom bags have gotten less mommy and more me. I love Ted Baker for bags, coats and shoes. Their products just last forever and are so pretty and feminine. This Ted Baker bag is in a cute pink color and allows me to still bring along way too much stuff but look a little more fashionable doing it. I have been using this bag non stop since Alela was born. I will show you the inside of the bag soon, when I do a “What’s in my Mommy Bag” blogpost.

The Perfect Boots

I believe this will be my fourth winter with these Michael Kors boots. They are soooo comfortable, slightly over-the-knee and they keep me super warm. They are water resistant, so no wet feet on rainy days and super easy to put on and take off. Every mom needs a pair of boots like thisΒ (or this) in her wardrobe. They make your leggings look not-so-much like leggings and give your outfit a bit of and edge.

The Baby Sling

To be honest I usually use my Pure Baby Love sling outside and when I take the girls for a bike ride. That’s because it’s a woven sling and this Tricot Slen, from Babylonia, is a stretch sling. I prefer the Tricot Slen for inside, because it is very soft, easy to tie and just very comfy in general. It’s 100% organic cotton and an absolute must have for the first four months or so. It is also super affordable. I have used this sling for Isaya, have passed it around to friends since then and now Alela is in it every day – so great quality and longevity.

Aya’s Rainboots

On Wednesday, which is ballet day, the ballet school is swarmed with Bergstein rain boots. They are the most popular brand in the Netherlands for kids rain boots and they also have a cute collection of winter boots, chelsea boots and cozy slippers. The boots come in a big range of lovely colors, are very high quality and quite affordable. Aya, of course, has the ones in light pink.

Aya’s Raincoat and hat

I guess you got the whole “we wear a lot of pink” thing. We live in a pink bubble and we love it. Aya’s rain coat is by Outift Kids, which is a very affordable kids clothing brand. Her hat is from one of my favorite webshops for baby- and children’s clothing and accessories, called Oh So Special.

Fall 2018 Disclaimer

Yes, I am calling it “fall” now. I have a couple of “Autumn Lookbooks” and even though I love that word way more than “fall” – especially the word “autumnal” for some reason – the USA holds my second largest group of loyal readers. So it just makes more sense to start calling it Fall Lookbooks. By the way, you can still check out my autumn lookbooks from previous years here:
