Empties Part 13: What (not) to buy next

It is time to go through my beauty trash again! I have fourteen products for you this month: facemist, toners, shampoo, deodorants, baby wipes, toothpastes, shower gel and one makeup product. Apart from that last product, all of the items in this EmptiesΒ post are cruelty free skincare products and contain mostly natural ingredients. Curious what my recommendations for this month are? Than keep on reading!

Cruelty Free Skincare Empties

Sukin Facemist: I talked about this face mist in my Spring/Summer 2018 Skincare Routine. Sukin is a lovely natural brand that is also super affordable. Holland & Barrett carries it. Sukin is an Australian brand with great values. Not only are they cruelty free, their products are also vegan, the packaging recyclable and they are partnered up with a Reef Aid Program to help protect the Great Barrier Reef. I enjoyed their face mist and will happily purchase it – and other Sukin products – again.

Toners – by Dr. Hauschka and {SIMPLE as that}: Yes! Loved both of these toners and loooooove both of these brands. I have written a ton of posts on Dr. Hauschka and in my most recent {SIMPLE as that} article I discussed why this natural and environmentally conscious brand is so amazing. Both brands carry high values concerning the environment, natural (and minimal) ingredients and animal testing. If you are looking for a new toner or other beautiful cruelty free skincare, definitely check out these two brands.

Deodorants – by Salt of the Earth and The Ohm Collection: I’ve been testing quite a few natural deodorants the past year. Some were fine, some were good and some were great. Salt of the Earth is my current favorite: it works really well and it is quite affordable. The Ohm Collection is also a great choice, because of the beautiful scents – very richt and unique. They are just on the pricier side.

Hair, Skin, Teeth and Baby Bums

Aveda Shampoo: I love Aveda and especially the Invati line. I’ve been using Invati for quite a few years and it has helped my thin & damaged hair a lot. I recommend it and will most definitely repurchase it at some point – I am just trying out a few other natural shampoo’s, so I can recommend a better variety of natural hair care products, in different price ranges.

Baby Wipes – by WaterWipes, Alphanova and Derma: All of these wipes are a good choice, if you are looking for baby wipes without chemicals (which is something I recommend you do!). If I have to pick one, I think WaterWipes is my favorite. They are a little less thick and soft than the Alphanova wipes, but they are a lot more affordable and contain less ingredients. When it comes to the Derma wipes my main concern is that they aren’t very wet, so I end up using them with Zarqa baby oil.

Toothpastes – by Ayurdent, Alviana and Eco Cosmetics: Just like with deodorants I’ve been testing a lot of natural toothpastes the past couple of months. I am very specific about taste, when it comes to toothpaste. Especially during my pregnancy, many toothpastes made me nauseous. For this reason Ayurdent was my fave, because the spices in this Ayurvedic toothpaste somehow worked for me.

Cien Showergel: As I mentioned before, Cien (Lidl’s own brand) is a decent cruelty free option. Their natural line (Cien Nature) holds the NATRUE quality label, which is very strict and is assigned to brands like Weleda and Dr. Hauschka. So, yes, if you are buying cruelty free skincare products on a budget, I recommend this line.

Ready, Set, No More Brow Gel

It is such a shame when big, beautiful brands aren’t cruelty free. Benefit is one of those brands. They don’t necessarily test their ingredients on animals themselves, but they do sell in mainland China and therefore allow others to do animal testing for them – which in the end is, you know, just as cruel. So, alas, farewell Benefit.
