Empties part 22: What (not) to buy next

Time for a new Empties post! I have empty beauty products from five amazing brands. Natural brands, environmentally conscious brands, brands that are cruelty free. And I’ve also got a whole bunch of natural sunscreen: all the sunscreen we used up during the summer. It is so important to really use up your products if you want to reduce waste. I hope this post will inspire you to do so! I also want to show you how many [!] natural and environmentally friendly options you have, when it comes to cosmetics.

Weleda Empties

Natuurlijke huidverzorging

You all know I am a huge Weleda fan. Their 100% natural products are amazing and I am truly honored to be an ambassador for the brand. This past month I used up from Weleda: the Lavender Room Spray [I have repurchased this at least 5 times since it came out and use it every day], Skin Food Body Butter [amazing, love all the products from the skin food line], the Almond body lotion [ooo delicious, almost want to take a little bite, it smells so good], the Birch Body Scrub [a true treat for your skin and senses], the Calendula diaper cream [the only thing I use for Alela’s bum: it is pure magic], the new face cream for problem skin [it’s amazing!], the Rose face cream [love it], the face sunscreen SPF 30 [loved it for the kids, but does leave a white cast].

Dr. Hauschka Empties

Dr. Hauschka huidverzorging

Another one of my all time fave environmentally conscious brands: Dr. Hauschka. I had the honor to work with them again last month, because of my 3rd blogiversary. The quality is so ridiculously good. The effectiveness of Dr. Hauschka products is sublime. The scents are heavenly. And their make-up collection is everything. [End Dr. Hauschka love song]. I used up the Eye Makeup Remover [a relatively new launch, reviewed it here], a small sized toning lotion [obsessed with this toner and already started a new, big, bottle], the Lavender and Sandelwood calming body cream [you need this in your life, it is perfection].

More environmentally conscious brands!

MΓ‘dara
environmentally conscious brands

Another beautiful environmentally conscious brand. This past month we used up one of the baby products – the Gentle Wash – my firming body oil [ which lasted sooo long!] and this beautiful PEEL mask. Big fan of MADARA. This summer I used their sunscreen and OMG, revolutionary!

Rau Cosmetics
Rau Cosmetics

I have been using and loving RAU for over a year and a half. The Beyond line is my latest find and it’s my fave because it is completely natural. The toner especially was amazing! Because I worked with them a few times I have a discount code: Kari2018.

The Body Shop
environmentally conscious brands

I love The Body Shop. I’m obsessed with the shower scrubs. They are obviously on the forefront when it comes to cruelty free cosmetics. And they have very extensive statements on their website on how they are working constantly to reduce their ecological footprint. The Body Shop has a measuring tool with which they score each of their products on wether its biodegradable, how much water it takes to produce, how many natural ingredients are in it, etc. It think it’s really cool and commendable, it is clear they work constantly to improve and I am glad I got to work with them a couple of times. The only thing that annoys me is that they don’t put the percentage of natural ingredients on their website or on the products. I have asked them that question multiple times and never got an answer.

Sunscreen from environmentally conscious brands

If you’ve been following my blog for a while you know I am obsessed with sunscreen. Growing up in Curacao I know how extremely important it is to protect you skin from the sun. Not just in the summer, but all year round. Because even when you don’t burn, your skin gets damaged by the sun. The 100% natural sunscreens we used up this summer were from Alphanova, Weleda, {SIMPLE as that} and Arganique. Recommend them all, but if you want something that doesn’t leave a white cast, pick {SIMPLE as that}. If you are looking for a great all-year-round sun protector, pick Arganique. Another brand we tried and liked is Ladival. It doesn’t use chemical filters, but it’s also not 100% natural.
